Commercial and Industrial Epoxy Flooring

Hempstead Epoxy Flooring specializes in providing quality epoxy floors to companies all throughout the Hempstead Area. Many companies turn to us when they need a new, durable, and good looking floor for areas like warehouses, garages, and even offices. An epoxy floor is a great choice for an area such as a warehouse for many reasons. First of all, it will hold up. In fact, epoxy floors are some of the most durable floors you can invest in. It's an extremely common choice for businesses that deal with heavy machinery, because the floor can stand up to heavy objects falling on it. Perhaps you are refinishing or upgrading and office, gym, or even a commercial kitchen. Epoxy floors are great for these situations because of their amazing looks, augmented by optional color flakes, and the ease of cleaning. Epoxy floors are much, much easier to clean than carpets and even wood, because you can use water and soap to clean it, rather than a vacuum or broom. Additionally, the floor will look great and give your space a more professional look. So when a potential customer or client enters your warehouse, garage, or office, that floor helps make a good impression.

Our process for industrial and commercial epoxy flooring is relatively the same as for residential properties, although we may use a harder resin and polymine in order to withstand the increased stress on the floor. First is the concrete preparation phase, in which the concrete is ground and sanded with special tools in order to smooth it out. This ensures that the floor will be smooth and uniform, and will not flake after a while. If there are cracks in the floor, a special epoxy grout is needed in order to fill them and get the floor completely flat. After this process is completed, we need to make sure the concrete floor is clean from all dust and debris that were generated through the grinding process. We can vacuum and brush it off. Next the primer is applied to concrete in an even manner. After it dries, the epoxy resin and polymine hardener are thoroughly mixed for three minutes with an industrial mechanical mixer. Using a mixer like this ensures that the two components properly mix. Failure to do so will have many negative effects on the final outcome. The mixture will then be applied with rollers and squeegees until the entire floor is covered with the same amount of mixture. That layer will be left to settle for at least 24 hours. After that, it will be sanded and ground to be as even as possible, in preparation for the layers to come. Depending on how strong the floor needs to be, one or two more layers will be added. For industrial areas and spaces like garages and warehouses, it’s often best to use more layers, adding to the life span of the epoxy floor. It’s in these layers that the aesthetic aspects of the flooring will be added, such as color flakes or multiple colors.
